Description
Rifaximin (sold under brand names like Axibol) is an antibiotic used to treat traveler's diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea (IBS-D), and to prevent hepatic encephalopathy. It stays mostly in the gut.

- Stops bacteria growth in the intestines.
- Does not treat viral infections like colds or flu.
- Does not enter the bloodstream much.
